Eclipses
Solar and lunar eclipses over a range of years: kind, magnitude, time of greatest eclipse and its longitude. With a person in the bar, it also shows which natal house the eclipse falls in and which natal points it contacts, and whether it is visible at the birthplace. The last eclipses before birth too.
Not a reading. Eclipses are searched with Astronomy Engine; longitudes use the same calculation as Positions. Times are geocentric greatest eclipse, shown in JST.
Premises
- Solar kinds: total, annular, partial. Time is geocentric greatest eclipse; the point of greatest eclipse (lat/lon) is given.
- Lunar kinds: total, partial, penumbral. Magnitude is the umbral fraction (0 for penumbral).
- Longitude is the Sun (solar) or Moon (lunar) at greatest eclipse. Natal contacts: conjunction or opposition within 3°. House from the natal cusps.
- Visibility at birthplace: for solar eclipses the local partial begin/maximum/end and altitude at maximum; for lunar, whether the Moon is above the horizon around maximum.
- Checked: 10 eclipses in 2022–2026 agree with NASA's tables within 3 minutes.
Prenatal eclipses are read by some as fixed points of the natal chart.
